Exhausted by the pressure to be "flawless"? True beauty is born in the fire.

We are conditioned to fear aging, hide our scars, and chase an impossible standard of perfection.

This Wabi-Sabi Chalice challenges that anxiety through the philosophy of it finding deep beauty in imperfection and impermanence.

Fired at extreme temperatures, the iron-rich clay pushes outward, creating a deep crimson glaze scattered with metallic, rust-like oxidations.

It is round and heavy that resembling a 'Buddha's belly' signifying deep, unconditional acceptance. The 'rust' is not a defect; it is the fingerprint of its survival.

About

Jian ware cup with a deep red brown glaze and natural rust spots. The marks come from the kiln fire, so no two cups carry the same pattern. Keep it for the cup you make slowly.

Intention & Tactile Beauty

Round, full and welcoming.

The full belly and gathered mouth give the cup a generous shape that feels natural to hold. Its textured rust spots invite your fingers to explore slowly.

Meaning & Intention

Marks and All

Some days we look in the mirror and see only what is out of place. This cup keeps a gentler view, that marks are simply what time and fire leave behind.

Materials & Craft

Rust Spots, Red Brown Glaze

A round, full bellied cup with a contracted mouth, finished in deep red brown glaze scattered with rust like spots that read as small stars. Made from iron rich clay and shaped by the kiln fire, the spots land differently on every piece.

Your Personal Ritual

A Slow Cup of Black Tea

Brew a dark tea or a cup of hot cocoa, and hold the cup in both hands. Let your thumb find the textured spots on the surface while you take your time with the first few sips.
